Mundus MAPP:
A European Masters program in Public Policy
TheErasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP)is a 2-year-long international Masters course that embeds the nascent field of transnational public policy into a European context. It is funded by the European Commission, and operated by a consortium of four leading European institutions:
・Central European University, Budapest, Hungary as coordinating institution;
・Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), Spain;
・Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, Netherlands; and
・University of York in the UK.
Mundus MAPPprovides:
-
detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance;
-
a multidisciplinary curriculum conceptually grounded in public policy, international relations, development studies, public administration and management;
-
practical work experience and transferable skills gained through an internship program;
-
international professional networks and analytical skills preparing graduates for international careers as policy-makers and advisors in either politics, the civil service, international organisations or the corporate and non-governmental sectors.
The European Commission providesErasmus Mundus scholarshipsto selected students from outside the EU. The scholarships are 42,000 Euros for two years, part of which students will use towards paying Mundus MAPP tuition fees.
TheMundus MAPPstudy programlasts two years. The first or foundation year is spent either at the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague, the Netherlands, or at the University of York in the UK. Having completed their courses and a thesis students participate in a summer school, and move for a second academic year either at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals in Spain or to the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Students undertake an internship either after the first or the second academic year.
Mundus MAPPgraduates receivedouble degrees(two of the following MA degrees) as well as a diploma supplement at the end of their studies:

MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies; OR
-
MA in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of York.
In combination with:

MA in Public Policy from the Central European University; OR
-
MA in International Relations from the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals.
Minimum admissions requirements are

BA degree (normally at least Second Class);
-
fluency in English, for non-native speakers evidenced by:
IELTS score of 6.5 or above
TOEFL score of 580 (paper-based), 237 (computer-based), 92 (internet-based) or above
Cambridge Proficiency A, B, C
-
for mobility tracks involving IBEI fluency in Spanish, evidenced by a DELE diploma (intermediate level) by Institute Cervantes or other recognized Spanish language exam (candidates may be phone interviewed)
-
high motivation and interest in European and international public policy.
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.
